Ground-breaking ceremony in Splügen
March 2023: After more than a year of planning, the time has finally come: an ambitious construction project in Splügen is starting. The former “Pratigiana” hotel and the historic stable at the entrance to the village will be completely gutted and converted into a hotel with a beer bar, event room and music bar. An underground car park is also being excavated and a new brewery building erected. It is a project close to the heart of Czech investor Jan Michal, who fell in love with Splügen on a motorbike trip and has now found a new home here. The project manager is the Austrian Christian Weissenbacher. They are relying on Swiss know-how for the implementation: the architectural firm Iseppi Ganzoni from neighbouring Thusis is responsible for planning the buildings. Local businesses are also responsible for the construction. And “Atelier Zürich” is designing the interior. Together they are realising the project, which is set to bring a breath of fresh air to the sleepy Walser village of Splügen: SPELUCA.
