A brewery. A "Genusshotel" with a beer parlour. Beer made from clear water of the Swiss Stockenawald spring: that's what we call SPELUCA.

The SPELUCA brewery opened in winter 2024 in a place that has always been open to new ideas: Splügen in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. Splügen was first mentioned in a document in 831 – as “Speluca”. In the Middle Ages, muleteers travelled through the mountain pass and traded extensively. Today, the modern “Schäumer” have settled here to mix a beer with this special Splügen spirit. The most important ingredient – alongside the best Swiss mountain water, hops and malt – is the right amount of cosmopolitanism. Our beers contain Czech expertise, Austrian joie de vivre and Swiss perfection and, of course, the many years of experience of our well-travelled German master brewer Tobias Palmer.

In the cradle of Swiss Alps, at 1475 metres above sea level, not far from the Italian border, lies a Swiss Walser village of Splügen. Now, people come here "for a good beer".

We believe that every beer brewed in SPELUCA has personality – and we take this literally. Each beer is given a carefully chosen face depicted by a real character on its label – from Bon Vivant to Frohnatur to Sportskanone. Grand Tourer

A dynamic character, always on the move and yet in perfect balance. A sparkling blend of grounded sovereignty and free-spirited character. Natural and unfiltered, with a golden heart and a refreshing flavour. Open to every way of enjoying life. Grand Tourer really gets going in good company.

Ingredients: spring water, barley malt, hops, yeast

Bohemian Lager

Original wort: 10 %

unpasteurised beer with a higher hop content

Alcohol content: max. 4 vol %

Sweet with a distinctive hop flavour

Available in 0.3 and 0.5 litres

Bon Vivant

A character of the world, delightfully non-conformist, but with casual nonchalance. Always in favour of the finer things, but also up for a bit of fun. Bon Vivant radiates a sparkling coolness, but always retains the mischievous charm of an outdoorsman. Cosmopolitan, tasteful and full of joie de vivre. A hedonistic, yet refreshingly easy-going guy who is always a pleasure to socialise with.

Kellerbier

Original wort: 12 %

Pale, top-fermented beer, naturally cloudy and unpasteurised

Available in 0.3 and 0.5 litres

Alcohol content: 5 vol %

Light golden yellow colour

Balanced and slightly fruity flavour

Pschuuri Braut

A decidedly tart character, but with sweet notes on the inside. Although it mainly shows its dark face, it conceals a complex character that is deeply rooted in Splügen culture. She is decidedly opaque, with a striking body, but is tastefully attractive. Anyone who likes dark types will love her.

Ingredients: spring water, barley malt, roasted barley malt, rye malt, oats, hops, yeast

Stout

Original wort: 13 %

Dark, top-fermented and unpasteurised stout beer

Available in 0.3 and 0.5 litres

Alcohol content: approx. 5 to 7 vol %

Malty and tart flavour, with coffee & roasted aromas

Froh Natur

A fun-loving character who always knows exactly what he wants. Above all, this cheerful character stands for full-bodied enjoyment. With a Bavarian zest for life in her heart and Swiss charm in her character, she has the right mix for sociable and entertaining evenings in a mountain hut. Just the kind of person you can have a really good time with.

Ingredients: spring water, wheat and barley malt, hops, yeast

Hefeweizen

Original wort: 11 - 14 %

Straw-yellow, top-fermented beer with at least 50% wheat malt content

Available in 0.5 litres

Alcohol content: 5 vol %

Full-bodied flavour with classic banana aromas, nutmeg

Sportskanone

A young, lively character who is really outgoing and likes to go out into the world. A real free spirit, full of lightness of character and always refreshingly honest. With a slender body and natural charm that never goes to his head. Uncomplicated, lively and full of exuberant joie de vivre.

Ingredients: Spring water, barley malt, roasted barley malt, wheat malt, hops, yeast

Alcohol-free beer

Original wort: 5.5%

Amber coloured and naturally cloudy
